Author Deontae Henderson’s newest releases answer some tough questions for children

The author’s newest books offer children great insight in how to construct their life and make tough decisions

"You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great", there is some truth to this quote by Les Brown. One must start no matter how small, to reach a greater stage. These are the very words that compelled a bright graduate of Tennessee State University to pick up a pen and share his knowledge. Deontae Henderson, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a recent university graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication chose to write a book.

Soon after his first book got published, Deontae received recognition for his work, and this motivated him to write a dozen more. Today, Deontae writes children's books and motivates other people to take up writing for themselves. By the age of 23, Deontae had published nearly 5 books. Through his stories, he tries to motivate others to strive and achieve a better version of themselves. He has also been very active in public speaking and has had the opportunity to speak at numerous events across the country. This energetic man is truly determined to leave behind a legacy and make his mark in history. No matter what the hardship he faces, he does not let his spirits falter, and in these trying times he has released two new books for his loyal readers.

His first new book "What’s going on there?” grapples with some of the questions that we all have wondered at some point in our life, what the baby does inside the womb? Despite the widespread assumption that the commotion inside the mother's belly is only due to the baby kicking, Deontae argues that this is far from the truth. According to him, babies do a lot more than kicks and he has to show his young readers what the infant is doing inside. This book was written by keeping a very specific audience in mind: little children who are awaiting the birth of their little brother or sister. By dumbing down what happens inside the mother's belly, not only does he satisfy the curiosity of the child but tries to spare the young mind of the details.

"My own way" is another recent title by the author that revolves around finding your own identity and being comfortable with yourselves, only then, he argues, you can move on to your desired destination by constructing your path. These choices are hard and often require the perspectives and accountancy of feelings and emotions of others, therefore the book is written for the ages 4–8 which are constantly undergoing decentralism and learning how to see things through other's perspectives and getting more comfortable in their own identity, for him it is at a stage like this that the children need more insight.

The author became more passionate about writing when reminiscing about "The Little Engine That Could” and “The Alchemist”. He diligently writes books that he hopes will be a positive agent in someone's life and will help them face the unpredictable future.
